WHY VINTAGE BILLABONG
Billabong was founded in 1973 by Gordon Merchant on the Gold Coast of Australia. Through the 90s and early 2000s, they defined surf culture — sponsoring legends like Andy Irons and Kelly Slater, producing hoodies, board shorts, and tees that serious surfers actually wore in the water. The quality from that era is unmatched. The fleece was dense and heavy, the embroidery was tight, and the graphics were unapologetic. Finding authentic pieces from that period is genuinely difficult — most of it got worn out or thrown away.
